Independent counselors/education consultants who are self-employed or employed by a company providing to students and/or their parents counseling, admission or financial aid services, whose professional objectives are consistent with the purposes of NACAC and adhere to the Statement of Principles of Good Practice may be eligible for voting membership, provided they meet the established criteria:

  1. Five years of college admission counseling experience in a secondary school or a college/university setting; OR
  2. Three years of college admission counseling experience in a secondary school or college/university setting and a Master’s degree in a counseling related discipline; OR
  3. Five years of college admission counseling experience as a practicing independent counselor and a Master’s degree in a counseling related discipline.
